Care: cleaning, repair, quarantine and missing pieces
Keep track of everything that is not ready to lend, and get it back on the shelf.
Who can do this: coordinators and admins.
Toys arrive in Care when the desk sends them for cleaning or repair at return, when someone moves a copy to the repair shelf, or when a piece goes missing. A toy in Care is not counted as "in", so members cannot book a copy that is still being mended.
Steps
Put a toy back on the shelf
- In the sidebar, choose Toys, then the Care tab.
- Choose a chip to narrow the list: Everything, Cleaning, Inspection, Repair, Quarantine, Incomplete or Missing pieces. Each shows how many are waiting.
- Read the row: the toy and its code, Why it is here, Where it is, and Since when.
- When the toy is clean, checked or mended, press Back on shelf.

What you'll see
A message such as "HB-0158 is back on the shelf". The row leaves the list, and the toy counts as available again.
Sort out a missing piece
- On the Care tab, choose Missing pieces.
- If the piece has turned up, press Found.
- Otherwise, open the row's menu:
- Replaced with a new piece: you have bought or made a replacement.
- Write off: it is gone for good. Confirm at Write it off? by pressing Write off.
The same buttons (Found, Replaced and Write off) are on the copy's own page, in its Missing pieces card.
What each state means
- Cleaning: being washed or wiped down.
- Inspection: waiting for someone to check it over, for example after a return.
- Repair: broken and waiting to be mended.
- Quarantine: kept apart, for example after illness in a family, until it is safe.
- Incomplete: set aside because pieces are missing.
- Missing pieces: pieces someone owes. These stay against the copy and against the member who borrowed it, and the desk shows an Owes pieces badge when that member next visits.
Good to know
- Once a missing piece is found, replaced or written off, it is no longer shown as owed.
- Writing off is kept in the audit log.
- To send a copy to repair yourself, open its page and press Move. See Move, repair, lose or retire a copy.
- A toy waiting to be counted at the desk sits in the Floor queue, not in Care. See Count later and the Floor queue.
