The four stages of a session
A session has four stages (Pack, Desk, Cash-up and Summary), all run from one full-screen session screen on the desk tablet.
Set up a desk tablet
Turn on desk mode on the tablet you use at sessions, so volunteers can unlock it with their own PIN.
Unlock the desk and start a session
Unlock the desk tablet with your PIN, and open the session (or start one if none is planned).
Pack for a session
Use the Pack stage to gather reserved toys, see what is due back first, who is collecting for the first time, and what to bring.
Lend toys
Find the member, scan the toys, press Done and take payment. Fees and due dates are set for you.
Hand over reserved toys
When a member arrives to collect a reservation, add every reserved toy to their visit in one tap.
Take toys back and check the pieces
Scan a returned toy, check its pieces, note anything missing, and choose where it goes next.
Count later and the Floor queue
Return a toy now and count its pieces when there is time; the Floor queue keeps it off the shelf until it is counted.
When the desk stops a line
What to do when a toy is reserved for someone else, a member has reached their limit, or a membership has lapsed.
Register a new family at the desk
Add a new member at the desk with a short form, then lend to them straight away.
Renew a membership at the desk
Add a membership renewal to a member's visit, so they pay for it with their toys.
Take a payment
Use the Pay panel to take cash, card or account payments, waive a fee with a reason, add a donation with Gift Aid, and email a receipt.
Check people in at the desk (Arrivals)
At a session with bookings, such as Stay & Play, check in booked families and walk-ins from the desk's Arrivals drawer.
Lend a toy that is not in the catalogue
Lend a toy the library owns but has never catalogued, in about 15 seconds, and send it to the To catalogue list.
Cash up and close the session
Count the tin, compare it with what Gizzago expects, note any difference, tidy loose ends and close the session.
When the desk locks
The desk locks itself after two minutes without use. A visit in progress is parked and picks up where you left off.
Keyboard shortcuts
Keys that speed up the desk and the rest of Gizzago when you have a keyboard or a barcode scanner.
